I just want to say to all those people who called me and others paranoid ten years ago for saying this was a reality, *I told you so*. Ever since the Patriot Act I was warning about the profiling of people, US Citizens, in conjunction with data mining (facebook, myspace, etc) under the excuse of “freedom isn’t free!” and “for national security”… and for those who still say “I have nothing to hide…”, well you might have to hide your *voice* (for one example) if they deem it unAmerican and decide incarceration or labor camps are for those who exercise constitutional rights. Edit: or worse. On top of all of this, the missing Nancy Guthrie’s “inactive” Google Nest camera still had hours of footage stored on the cloud regardless of her lack of subscription. While the how and why’s of it being possible are speculative and nuanced, the fact that it was recording is disturbing. Of course this is used as a “positive” for law enforcement, just as much as the local major media news lauding Ring (and Flock) “see how good Ring cameras are, helping this guy find his long lost doggy” or catching a criminal with Flock. Sure, sounds good, but what we need to be concerned about is what they are *not* telling us. We need to stop trusting so blindly based on the propagandist narratives they spin.
