Funny enough, china is keeping US Big Tech somewhere honest, by publishing competitive open-source LLMs and forcing them to keep their pricing grounded. Most US AI startups I'm familiar with, now adopt the published chinese AI models, over trapping themselves inside Big Tech's overpriced ecosystem. Kinda like how the Linux allowed for an alternative to Windows, and their open-source and free model allowed for the rise of Android. I just hope it's enough to keep profits low enough and stop Big Tech from devouring the overall tech industry, like how they destroyed the RAM and GPU markets.
