This is so well-written and highlights the terrible problem at the heart of AI in education right now. I hope he gets through to some of your classmates. Whatever happens with your paper, you did the right thing and you got a lot of practice doing your work the correct way. Everyone else wants a shortcut before learning how to do it the long way, but doing it the way you did helps you build skills that will be useful to you for life, skills that will belong to you and not be locked behind access to the internet.
