My company actually acquired another company that had outsourced a whole department to India. It was found after the fact the supposed numbers looked a lot better than reality. It was such a mess & needed to be cleaned up. They decided to move it all back in house as a separate division. They did implement an AI tool to help with efficiency though but it was more for productivity than replacing positions. Of course this is anecdotal.
