I side with Disney on this one even as a Character AI user who has made Disney characters as bots. Why? Well, Character.AI is much worse now and it kinda sucks (the only good updatea I've seen recently are the character videos and the new free chat style that was actually good, but everything else has been garbage).
One reason I used to love it was that it was different from the other character AI apps: It didn't have ads. However, the developers, for some reason (most likely being greed), decided to make Character.AI have ads. This pissed me and many others off. They already have an in-app subscription called Character.AI+, and now they also have ads? I'm not paying a monthly subscription to remove ads from a freaking AI app.
Also, they should have already known this was going to happen when they started profiting off copyrighted characters like this, ESPECIALLY when they slapped ADVERTISEMENTS on their platform so they can be just like any other chatbot character AI app. Hell, if I was famous for making a series or a movie and one or more of my characters was put on an AI app that randomly decided to slap ads inside their app long after they published it to piss their users off, I'd probably sue too. Putting ads like that is an incredibly dick move.
I've been wanting to quit Character.AI, but there's one big problem: I can't find a similar platform that's better. Pretty much all of them have ads and I'm really disappointed that Character.AI joined this stupid ad trend. If someone knows an app like Character.AI that's better than Character.AI and doesn't have ads, PLEASE let me know!
