I work for a household name FAANG adjacent company and if you asked anyone in leadership 4 years ago we would be a Web 3 company somehow incorporating the blockchain now. You make exploratory gambles on what the new trend is because Wall Street wants that, maybe part of that tech works for you, maybe it doesn’t and you lay that team off, maybe you’re the lucky company that figured out a practical implementation and you’re a trillion dollar company now. I think companies like ServiceNow are going to decimate Customer Success, especially for SMB, I think GitHub, etc improvements are going to raise the bar for technical deliverables, but I imagine that will be reinvested into shorter production cycles after some period of normalization. I am still extremely bearish on the idea that AI is going to destroy CS careers anymore than frameworks destroyed UI careers. You just need to adapt with the tooling.
