The reason why people are using AI for support is because they're trying supplement being involved in a community. Humans are supposed to get out and interact with other humans. Now everyone spends too much in doors on a screen dis-connected from society. Now no one hardly knows each other and most don't know their neighbors. This wasn't so much the case before the internet. People's support structure was the community before the internet and this isn't there anymore. Not a huge religion type of person but going to church was awesome facilitator for get the community together. People do not get depress when they have a strong sense of belonging, I.E. their community. Now since they do not have any of that and AI is always available and capable of responding back in a quasi human way it make as an attractive alternative to its users. And convinces them to feel like they're getting a human connection but their not. The issue is that their is a much stronger chances of it recreating psychosis in the individual without a moderator. But I personally believe that this was still the case, but likely, with a human therapist.
