The thing is, an AI singularity has been on people's minds for decades/centuries every since science fiction was a thing. The basic premise is simple really, if you design something that is "intelligent" and it has the ability to design something that is even more intelligent than itself, you have achieved singularity and will witness an extremely steep exponential curve of progress.
It makes sense in theory, but in practice LLMs have limited capabilities and don't demonstrate the level of intelligence required to improve on themselves.
