I'm on a multi-jurisdictional case that has about 8.5 million documents produced in discovery. Three years ago we received documents for actions in 2 states, and I hired 15 contract attorneys who spent months wading through a few hundred thousand documents. Starting about February 2024, I started talking to my discovery vendor about what they could do with AI. And this summer, we applied it in our discovery work. And this time around, I had 4 contract attorneys doing the same amount of documents in a shorter time because we used AI to pre-screen the documents (which had its own cost).
