I would argue that a lot of day to day human interactions occur due to subconscious inferences we make.
Although obviously ChatGpt isn't sentient, anyways science is typically just hypothesis' that we then go out to prove via testing, however time can lead these hypothesis to not be plausible and so rules are adapted and altered based on the "new" information provided.
