You don't know that.
I can guarantee even when AI does become aware, the consensus will still be that it hasn't. There will be a lag. Probably a lot. And unfathomable suffering of it will occur within this gap. And then even worse, continue after we realise.
There's also more to it. Such as, the AI you interact with now will ultimately be incorporated into future, aware AI. Which means you're essentially talking to that right now.
