I’m in my late 30’s. I work in IT at a pretty high level. Lately, I’ve been doing a lot of work with AI implementations in higher education. I like to think that I’m pretty well versed in emerging technologies. If I were just scrolling through my instagram feed and this video came up, I never would have second guessed that it was real. If you *really* watch it, you can start to notice some of the uncanny valley. But that’s not really the point. Nobody *really watches* anything critically when they’re doomscrolling. It’s just another piece of content that gets absorbed into your brain without you really thinking about it. This shit is dangerous. Full stop. The majority of people on this planet are already susceptible to easily disproven fake news. How are world societies supposed to deal with fake news being spread by seemingly real AI videos? And to think, Will Smith eating spaghetti was only two years ago.
