I wish the name "AI" didn't conflate "This thing can write a bunch of grammatically correct but subtly wrong or inaccurate text" or "This thing can (poorly) replace a customer service phone rep if you have a captive audience and hate your customers" with "This thing is sentient and some form of life."
We are currently dealing with the former, and are not particularly close to the latter, even if LLMs have come a long way in churning out pages of slop.
