And then there are just deluded folks who will latch on to whatever a tech guru is saying without validating it themselves. A guy on reddit was arguing with me last week that we should take the Anthropic CEO's words at face value that within 6 months, 90% of software engineering jobs will be eliminated by AI. I tried to knock some "conflict of interest" commonsense into him, but he retaliated with a barb that I will realise it once I lose my job. At which point I had to block him.
