I don’t know why anybody is surprised. Experts have been telling us that AI is going to become nearly AGI / ASI by around 2030 by many predictions. I think what caught people off guard is seeing something artificial make the leap that many said it would. It seems uncanny, and peculiar, but it’s ultimately the reality that every AI team is running at the finishing line for.
