Ok let's unplug Ai and other countries advance further than us and take over the world being world dominant and we lose a war against them because of that and are far behind in every field before this war even begins. As long as they have the computational power they won't all get rid of AI and would be unverifiable. It's not like countries allow other countries to inspect all their weapon systems for defense such as missiles and aircraft and nuclear weapons and everything in between. Including the code that runs on them. How fast the professors are etc. Are we going to let them inspect all military hardware and get rid of military secrets and allow them to have all our military secrets and be just as advanced to unplug AI? If not. Wishful thinking. If we only block civilians from Ai and stop investing in our country people will run AI from a foreign country instead. Are you going to let them inspect your most advanced weapon systems like bombers and fighters and military ships? How about Anti aircraft systems? Most countries are now using Ai. China is investing heavily in AI. Russia uses AI. Ukraine utilizes AI a little bit on drones to get the success rate up on drone attacks against Russia for defense. Iran is most likely using AI. We have Ai because you couldn't get rid of the computer or fall behind as a primitive society who could be defeated easily in war. You can say we will use a treaty but a treaty can only work if you can verify this just like nuclear reduction treaties. And we can't verify they won't use Ai and they still have to have secrets in their technology or they lose a war and we do to. And you can inspect for AI or you give all the secrets away even if not using Ai. And they could make Ai hot swappable. Just pull out SSD and out put in other SSD with non Ai code on it. And we could cheat test to see how powerful the chips are on it. And all aircraft use computer chips included non Ai aircraft. An f-14 tomcat has computer chips. F-1
