The 2019 movie Terminator: Dark Fate storyline is based on the notion that we develop AI to autonomously conduct cyberwarfare and it decides to switch off everything that underpins modern society in a single moment.
Our attempt to "unplug" AI is what takes it from simply collapsing society (with humans as collateral damage) to actively trying to hunt and kill humans to extinction.
But that's just Hollywood. I'm sure everything will be fine.
