The "quality" of internet has gone down the drain before AI content became a thing. It's just speeding the process up slightly. Tell me the last time you googled something that you genuinely wanted to learn something about only to have to deal with multiple pages of adverts and links to pages that try to sell you a solution or a solution to a different problem. At some point people discovered that the internet is a super powerful advertisement platform and that was kind of the day the internet died. All AI is doing is helping build the coffin. What's far worse is that, as AI gets better and better, humanity as a whole is at risk of losing control of reality and our society is so not ready for it. Shit will fall apart really rapidly once criminals can use AI tools to imitate people and their activities. This process has started already.
