Their argument is the equivalent of “You used a thesaurus” and “correctly identified a theme in the piece.” ChatGPT is a LLM. It uses the most likely collection of words that others have already used on the topic. “Most likely” as in many other people have done this. Ask them if they ever let their text, email, or word auto complete a sentence. That’s the exact same thing they’re charging you for. As a college-level educator, I hear this shit about teachers and it pisses me off.
