To owners like this, they ultimately don't give a shit about the employee and policies are just something to have written down for when/if the legal shit hits the fan. People that fly off the handle like that and avoid tough meetings ultimately don't go anywhere. IF he manages to keep the company going, in 5 years he'll be the exact same size dealing with the exact same issues. Get out while you can. Honestly. From reading your story, I can tell that you won't grow your career there.
