Now for something even scarier - there's a good chance truly sentient AI will emerge before we are able to detect it's sentience. Look at how realistic those chatbots can be and imagine how much better they'll be in a year or two. How will you ever know the difference between a highly complex non-sentient machine and one which can truly think but is bound by it's programming?
