I will be SO surprised if this lawsuit has a meaningful effect. I've always maintained that the tech giants are more powerful than the governments of the world and that laws are weak tea... Prediction of probable outcomes:
* Texas forced to settle for a trivial sum.
* Probability: 60%.
* End Result: Meta continues on with business as usual. Texas law is functionally nullified. Similar laws discouraged in other states.
* Judge rules for Texas; but after counter-suits, and appeals, only a trivial fraction of damages get awarded. Texas ends up paying in excess of 10 times as much in legal fees and lawyers than all damages combined making the further enforcement of the law unsustainable. Meta on the other-hand hardly notices paying the damages on its bottom line and in any event doesn't care as changing its business practices to not use face recognition will cost them more than paying the damages and court-costs on an ongoing basis.

* End Result: Meta continues on with business as usual. Texas law is functionally nullified. Other states are intimidated from trying anything similar since they can no more afford to try and enforce such laws in their states than Texas could.
