'We'll all be working four day weeks and enjoying more leisure' were the claims made by experts (and paper would be obsolete). Instead the productivity gains have mostly gone to the already wealthy, real wages have stagnated and employees are working longer hours (with less job security), than ever before. Going by the past, it's hard to see how AI based productivity improvements won't again go to the already wealthy, while the rest of us are perhaps ghettoized on a UBI that always seems to never be quite enough to cover ever-increasing living costs.
