Total anecdotal evidence: I work in Asset Management, in continental Europe. We have all kinds of consultants, IT specialists, what have you, on free lance/self-employed contracts. Quite some of them where from the UK. Working in continental Europe, white collar jobs, earning more than decent wages (between 100 and 200 euro hourly).
Most of them voted Brexit and defended it. Because back home they saw so many Eastern Europeans taking blue-collar jobs. But also because Europe made the UK discard perfectly fine bananas that were not the right angle (disclaimer: that's not the true story obviously). Of course the bananas were just an example of the perceived avalanche of ridiculous EU rules (true to some extent but largely exaggerated).
I was shocked to hear them say it. I asked them if they realized it meant we wouldn't contract them anymore. They were sure some regulation would be in place to keep *them* in the EU. I asked them if they saw the irony of complaining about Polish and Romanian persons taking UK jobs, while they took a continental job. I was told I shouldn't compare those situations.
Let me be clear: all those guys and girls were a delight to work with, good colleagues. I don't think they are stupid or right wing extremists or whatever. But I was flabbergasted about their reasoning. Seemed like they were totally blind for any possible downside of leaving the EU and only saw the possible upside.
