They're not talking about banning cameras, they're talking about the use of automatic facial recognition.
Axon, the biggest supplier of police body cameras, said they thought facial recognition was unethical [back in June](https://www.theverge.com/2019/6/27/18761084/axon-taser-facial-recognition-ban-ethics-board-recommendation).
