The question i always wonder is how many suspects were found *exclusively* by facial recognition and no other means? if it discovers suspects who otherwise would go undiscovered, that's a value even if it does have a high false positive rate.
Also, of course, *every* police investigative technique has a high false positive rate; the vast majority of leads, tips, etc go nowhere and do not lead to the correct suspect.
