We'll never be able to get legislation like this so long as people unquestionably think the law is moral and cops are an inherent good. Look at republicans justifying concentration camps by saying "well they broke the law". We live in a culture that also believe that only bad people have something to hide. Plus the idea that police and law enforcement is a "thin blue line" between civilization and anarchy. We still have TSA and that doesn't even work nor generate profit. We'll get facial recognition that doesn't work well and hundreds of thousands will be charged or arrested for fake crimes while they lose their kids, their jobs, or their homes and the justification will be "it's no big deal, they didn't go to jail or anything, justice was served".
