This is a real problem with ai in human organizations. An ai is a black box, we know how it is built, but it's impossible to say what it represents
For instance, because race and income are closely correlated, an ai that's trying to determine credit worthiness may end up building race into its model instead of income
I think something similar happened recently in college admissions. Asian applicants claimed that the models used by top tier schools held them to a higher standard than other applicants
