Its been a few years since I was in Chiang Mai, but I really liked it. I've been there a couple of times a few years apart. I'd recommend seeing the Muay Thai fight. The one I went to a couple of times is the Thaphae Boxing Stadium. Its on the west side of the old city by the moat. I also really enjoyed the massage I had at the Women's prison. The prison does some vocational training for non violent prisoners due to be released soon like massages. It was a very pleasant atmosphere and we were able to chat with them a bit. My wife and I went back a couple of days later but it was closed as one of the Princesses was visiting that day. We went to another massage places, but it felt so much blander there. Its really nice to rent a scooter and drive around. For some reason I really like walking through big supermarkets when I travel. There's a big Tesco's at the north end of town. Also take the drive up to Doi Suthep. I went in the evenings to catch the sunset. Enjoy your trip. *edit* I totally forgot to include the zoo. Most interesting zoo I've been to - you can get super close to the animals - feed the Giraffes etc. I can't find a good photo online, but the [crocodile pit](https://www.tripadvisor.com/LocationPhotoDirectLink-g293917-d1862236-i165915313-Chiang_Mai_Zoo-Chiang_Mai.html) had like a two foot wall around the 10 foot deep pit - you could fall in so easily.
