Seriously. I've never been to a developing country with less crime, less trash, less feeling of sketchiness. Belize City is a bit worse than the rest of Belize but even there I felt more at ease than in many parts of the bay area in California where I live.
Belize is an amazing and very unique place. Poor definitely, but definitely not poor in spirit. And even in the littlest bumfuck villages outside San Ignacio there just isn't trash anywhere (which is mindblowing compared to the rest of central America).
