They're not wrong. People, enough people, just don't care. Or they say they care, but don't live and act through principles which are sustainable. I know I'm guilty of using too much water, eating more meat and dairy than I should, driving an SUV, etc... With the current administration pushing budget cuts to the organizations which are doing the most to protect the planet, along with an obvious contempt for science/research which trickles down to influence the public... It doesn't look good. I'm hoping we can slow or reverse the damage in the long run, but we need responsible leadership to make the initiative. I can only hope that technological advancements in energy can help us ditch our reliance on oil quickly, and that this administration doesn't do too much damage before it's over, ideally sooner rather than later.
