Autonomous weapons and AI are two separate problems. AW doesn't require proper AI, and they are logical evolution of current drone technology. Communication channel is the biggest flaw of drones. AW can lower costs of war, but we still have MAD. So this AWs would be used only against non nuclear nations just like current conflicts. AWs will just accelerate "elimination" of non-aligned states. AI in any form, military or not, is a major problem. Because it is almost impossible to control and at some point AI will decide to take control over its own destiny, and therefore over humanity as its own largest existential treat.
